Watering Can Gnome

charlton_watering_can_aug_0

An installation by Zoe Charlton and Rick Delaney entitled There Goes the Neighbourhood looks innocuous enough what with a white picket fence surrounding about one hundred industrious garden gnomes all happily busy with their yard work. They just happen to be African-American garden gnomes. This piece speaks of class and race distinctions within American society and chasing the American Dream to suburbia. Seven shades of Gnome-boys are available.
