David Hockney Lashes Out At Damien Hirst

Have to agree with Hockney here, although detractos will point to how the masters used to use assistants to fill out paintings and so on.

Thank you, David Hockney. I appreciate the real thing. I do my own work, too.

This is a little odd as Rubens is always highly regarded, yet well known to have had assistants paint whole pieces, adding portrait  faces and hands by his own hand. – Surely David Hockney did have assistants develop and prepare all of the technical aspects of programming the computers to enable the large landscape technique to be applied. I wander if the gentleness of his voice, now in his 70′s is being missed here, as he is likely just reassuring people that he is still able to do all of his very large painting with out assistans to support. – I can just imagine Damien Hirst already sketching out how he can now also make expressive brush strokes within the coloured dots, some quite large, all by his own hand personally, surely a brilliant result from Mr Hockney’s  sage advise.
